[Editor: A poem by Charles Harpur.]
XXXIV.
Epitaph for a Sailor
In Port at last ! Around HIS Bark no more
The wave shall threaten, or the tempest roar.
None ever voyaged the wild sea of Life
Less rudened by its danger, toil, and strife.
A Man he was in every manly part,
A Child in fervent innocence of heart :
And I who mourn him, and who knew him well.
Tell of him thus but what the Angels tell.
