Christ the King.
Christ, the King of Glory,
At Thy feet I kneel,
To Thy gracious mercy
Humbly I appeal.
Christ, the King of Heaven,
Hear me, as I plead,
For my absent loved ones
In their hour of need.
Christ, the King eternal,
On Thy Name I call,
Thou, my soul’s salvation,
Thou, my Lord, my all.
Tune, 773 A. & M.

Editor’s notes:
The Bush Brother was a religious publication, which described itself as “A Quarterly Paper conducted by Members of the Brotherhood of the Good Shepherd.” The Brotherhood was “A Society, consisting of Clergy and Laity of the Church of England, formed for the purpose of Ministering to the Spiritual needs of the Dwellers in the Bush Districts of the Bathurst Diocese.”
On page 198 of the same issue, where thanks were being given to contributors, the editor wrote: “We are indebted … to Miss Lucy Homfray, sister of Canon Homfray, of Stuart Town, for her verse, “Christ the King.”
A. & M. = Hymns Ancient and Modern, a collection of hymns in common use within the Church of England (the first full edition of which was published in 1861, following the production of a specimen edition in 1859 and a trial edition in 1860)
