This is a mounted photo of the 2nd Section of 3rd Platoon, A Company, 2nd Recruit Training Battalion, comprising recruits from the 3rd intake into the Australian Army in 1972.

Only the top right section of the reverse of the mounted photo has been reproduced here, so as to show the list of names.

Coy. = an abbreviation of “Company”

Cpl = an abbreviation of “Corporal”

Lt. = an abbreviation of “Lieutenant”

RTB = Recruit Training Battalion

Sec = an abbreviation of “Section”

Sgnt = an abbreviation of “Sergeant”

Vietnam War = a war fought between the forces of North Vietnam and the Viet Cong (supported by China, the USSR, North Korea, and Kampuchea) and the forces of South Vietnam (supported by the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, and Thailand); the war was fought from 1955 to 1975 (the years of the conflict may differ between historians, depending on the criteria used)
