The Fairies, Pixies and Gnomes
The Fairies and the Pixies were all dancing on the green;
The little Gnomes found out, and they were soon upon the scene;
But, oh! The Fairies saw them, and they chased them right away,
And said to them, “You naughty things! Go somewhere else and play,
For we are practising a dance, to do before the King,
And some of us are going to play, and some are going to sing.
It’s all a big, big secret though, so right away, you all must go.”
“Oh, dear!” the Gnomes said, “What a shame!
We’d love to join you in your game.”
The Fairies looked so sorry then,
And all said to the little men,
“We know that you are good and kind,
So we’ve decided not to mind;
Come then and join us in our fun,
For see, the dancing has begun.”
