[The London Gazette: New South Wales Corps personnel in the War Office promotions list] [30 March – 2 April 1799]

[Editor: An extract from the promotions list (headed “War-Office, April 2, 1799”) of the British military forces, including the promotion of personnel in the New South Wales Corps. Published in The London Gazette, 30 March – 2 April 1799.]

War-Office, April 2, 1799.

Twelfth Regiment of Light Dragoons, Joseph Robbins, Esq; late a Captain in the 9th Foot, to be Paymaster.

15th Ditto, Lieutenant Walton Leitch to be Adjutant, vice Hays, who resigns.

21st Ditto, Richard Sharp, Esq; to be Paymaster.

26th Ditto, Quarter-Master Thomas Dillow to be Cornet, vice Dickens, who is superseded being a Boy at School.

1st Regiment of Foot Guards, Ensign Robert Lovelace to be Lieutenant, by Purchase, vice Hamilton, promoted in the 28th Light Dragoons.

George Augustus Cooke, Gent. to be Ensign, by Purchase, vice Lovelace.

2d Battalion of the 1st Regiment of Foot, Captain Thomas Christopher Gardner, from the Half-Pay of the late 122d Foot, to be Captain, vice Imrie, who exchanges.

34th Regiment of Foot, Ensign John Hollingberry to be Lieutenant, by Purchase, vice Rice, who retires.

39th Ditto, Ensign George Symes, from the Royal Cornish Miners, to be Ensign, without Purchase, vice Williams, whose Appointment does not take place.

55th Ditto, Ensign Thomas Foster to be Lieutenant, by Purchase, vice Hamilton, who retires.

60th Ditto, Ensign Charles Imhoff, from the 90th Foot, to be Lieutenant, vice Christie, who retires.

69th Ditto, George Billings, Gent. to be Ensign, by Purchase.

New South Wales Corps, Hugh Peper, Gent. to be Ensign, by Purchase, vice Dalmer, removed to the 23d Foot.

11th West India Regiment, John Dunn, Gent. to be Ensign.

1st Battalion of the Breadalbane Fencible Infantry.
John Simpson, Gent. to be Ensign, vice D. Macleod, removed to the Second Battalion.
