[The Ballaarat Times announces]
The Ballaarat Times announces the death, by a fall from his horse, of Mr Thomas Kennedy, an old and well-known resident in that district, “and one who in former days took a prominent part in political movements. These who remember the enthusiastic meetings held shortly before the Eureka Stockade, will also call to mind the earnest manner in which Mr Kennedy addressed them, and the thorough sincerity with which he always spoke.”
From the evidence taken at the inquest, it appeared that Mr Kennedy “had been galloping in company with Mr Taylor and Mr Mather, and when near the Forest Hill Hotel the deceased fell head foremost on the ground. He was immediately taken up, and a doctor sent for, but before he arrived the deceased had expired.”
