The painting is signed by Harold Herbert (an Australian artist) in the lower-left of the painting (although the signature is hardly visible).

Harold Herbert = Harold Brocklebank Herbert (1891-1945), artist; he was born in Ballarat (Victoria) in 1891, and died in Melbourne (Victoria) in 1945
