Editor’s notes:
Dimensions (approximate): 140 mm. (width), 90 mm. (height).
The property name of the sender was difficult to decipher; a search of the Trove site was carried out for various possibilities (Ebaensio, Ebaenzio, Ebaensis, Ebaenzis, Elraensio, Elraenzio, Elraensis, Elraenzis), but with no luck. The Sands & McDougall’s Melbourne directories for 1900 and 1905 were checked for any such property name (and for the surnames Nelson, Richardson, and Prichard), in The Avenue, Windsor (although The Avenue was listed under “Prahran” in the directories) but with no results.
The name of the sender was difficult to decipher; it could be “E Nelson-Richardson” or “E Nelson-Prichard Snr”.
The name of the addressee should be “Lloyd” (not “Loyd”); the only people listed with that surname in the Sands & McDougall’s Melbourne directory for 1905, resident in Burwood Road, Hawthorn, were Miss Lloyd (dressmaker) and S. Lloyd & Son (van proprietors), both entries being listed at no. 207 Burwood Road (north side), Hawthorn.
